EVERYBODY CUT FOOTLOOSE

Stretching is key to a good dance performance.

It's my sister-in-law-to-be (can't wait to just be married and drop the insanely long "to be" titles) Lenore's Birthday today.  It was her special birthday request that everyone bribe their tots, put on their dancing shoes, don their one armed leotards, and get busy to Beyonce (sasha FIERCE) Knowles' hit " Single Ladies." Be ye single or taken you're sure to enjoy the moves that are now posted on Lenore's blog. They are absolutely HILARIOUS.

I haven't heard from PG for a bit so I'm guessing he too has joined the dancing train (the boy got rhythm). Below is my contribution. If you like it feel free to put a ring on it...and yes I do use my inhaler at the end of the performance.

Oh! and PS... Little known fact via my sister courtney: one of the back up dancers in the original vid is a man. "the more you know"

put it in the oven for baby and me.

I love sweets. I'm a certified sweet-aholic. Fruit snacks make me absolutely salivate, baked goods call my name from the starbucks display case (especially fall's pumpkin bread), and I methodically medicate every problem with chocolate and ice cream. So Why was this week especially sweet?

CAKE TASTINGS my friends, cake tastings. My mom, T, and I have been nibbling on buttercreamy goodness all week. So many flavors, so many choices, and so many darn'd pieces!  I'd put the cake-o-meter at about 8 pieces a taster... and believe you me we're STUFFED. I think I am cake.

After three bakeries, about 20 flavors and combinations, and five binders of frosted creations, we've found the one. Success in cakeland means joy for the heart and extra buttons on the britches.

below. some of our caloric conquests...

Happy birthday to Grandma and Bryce!
After two tastings in two hours...I said no to Grandma's birthday cake.
Phil picked these particular flavors via phone.
aaaaaand they're gone!
Twelve flavors gone like clockwork.

PROVORAMA

What could be better than a week with my sweetheart? NOTHING. I just got back from another Phab Phil Phest (thanks once more to hostess Jaicy and her hubby Evrhet who housed me and also clothed me the night I lost my luggage!). I am disgustingly in love. Somebody slap me. We had such a great time enjoying each others company, goofing around, cuddling, laughing, talking, talking, talking, adventuring, and eating mint chip ice cream pretty much nightly.

Here are the TOP 5 highlights of the week (did someone say highlights? I need some BAD. If my roots get any longer I may have to become hat girl)

1. Sledding with friends! It was dumping snow before my visit so sledding was grand. There's nothing better than an excuse to throw snow at those you love before throwing yourself willy nilly down a hill.

2. cookin'. I forced Phil to buy real food at the grocery store (his regular at school food groups include: eggo waffles, peanut butter, pasta noodles, and milk). We got domestic and cooked a few nights. We saved cash, enjoyed our first attempts at culinary creation, AND PG even helped! (Philpoints are adding up fast.)

3. We got to see many many friends, be it at lunch, dinner, or other fun festivities.

4. We got to see the Pres. Thomas S. Monson speak on Sunday night. So awesome. He had wonderful things to say about the challenges and blessings of our generation and the importance of our young adult years.  Sitting next to PG (in his suit...so cute so cute so cute) made it that much sweeter.

5. We saw the Body world exhibit! Going to museums is one of my favorite things on earth. My parents made sure to take us tiny tots to exhibits any chance they got. This was my second time at body world and it was a feast for the mind. Of course there is something creepy about the once living displays but it was so cool to really be able to see the complex design of the human bod'.

I've never had a week go by so quickly. It was hard to leave but Phil only let me drop one or two tears (I'm quite the misty eyed lady). I can't wait to see him next and to watch the days fly by 'til we get to be Mr. and Mrs. (oh how I'll miss the sound of "miss." I just love it. It's so Gone with the Wind southern belle-ish. I'm definitely happy to trade it in nonetheless.) And now the pictures... I didn't take enough. Sometimes I forget about the camera. Anyhow Here they go!

one is silver and the other's gold.

The Negative Clique Reunited! (we didn't choose the title...it was bestowed...)

Demonstrating our advanced children's choir "hands" choreography

This past weekend I had a fabu time singing in an alumni concert with my childhood choir.

It was so awesome to see everyone.  This year marked the 25th anniversary of Contra Costa Children's Chorus and they had members representing (I would hazard to guess) every year. The concert was just the BEST opportunity to reconnect with some friendies I've had since the most awkward of adolescent times. It's so incredible to me that with some friends, no matter the time you've spent apart, it still feels just the most splendid when you're together. Lindsay you were sorely missed!

In other news I'm here in the oakland int'l. airport (way too early ...I'm kinda eager) waiting for my flight to Utah to go see my PG. Right now I'm people watching (beautiful african garb lady, weird "hey I'm artsy" peter pan hat mac owner so he's cool with me guy, small man with small laptop, and teen texters galore) while being tempted by the sumptuous scents of Auntie Freaking-do-they-put-crack-in-their-pretzels-Anne's goodies. I'm thinking I'll opt for CPK... a. because it's cpk come on...delish and b. because for some reason pizza carbs seem like more of a meal that pretzel carbs (disclaimer: I am NOT the type to think carbs is a dirty word).

I CAN NOT WAIT to see Phil! Why do I think that getting here earlier will magically make the whole travel experience faster??? Much the opposite is true actually.
I'm running out of battery. Sad and upsetting. Ta-ta for now! I'll be in the land of Betterhavesomeseriousmoisturizer for a week so expect quite the roll of pictures! (may fall back into blogging whilst PG is in class) CIAO AMICI!

I'm with the BAND.

Miss Bardot knew what was up.

With the headBAND that is! Be it thick, stretchy, sparkly, ribbon, leather, rhinestone, lace... it's the 21st century crown and I love it...the thick and to the hairline mod squad bands, the flower child-y scarves... and of course the prepster plaids and stripes. Headbands with bows also make my heart go thump bump lately. I'm romancing the band... a true band groupie.
